Cheer the Team on in Custom Designed Cheerleading T-Shirts

July 20th, 2008

We know how busy fall is around school campuses.  It’s not just the guys who are busy training and gearing up for the big season.  The cheerleaders are spending hours practicing and training as well so that they can be in top form to show their school spirit at the big games.  We also know that cheerleading is a twenty-four hour job.  That’s why we wanted to create something concrete that the girls could wear to show their school spirit even when they weren’t in their uniforms or actively practicing.  The solution: custom design cheerleading t-shirts.  We’ve spent the last few days busily adding even more templates to our cheerleading t-shirt designs gallery.  Here’s a great example that we’re proud of:

We can also easily alter these t-shirts to reflect your school information or crests.  These personalized t-shirts are the perfect answer of what to wear to school events when you aren’t actively cheering!

By now football teams are gearing up for the big season and train their hardest to be at the top of their game.  With so much going on right now for these athletes we here at You Design It Are doing what we can to help out by creating screen printed football t-shirts that they can wear to show pride in for their team.  That’s why we’ve been spending a lot of our time recently adding to our custom football t-shirts design gallery.  These shirts can be worn while the team is training and working out, or simply at school functions and around town to help show everyone what a great team you belong to.  Check out our design gallery for some ideas.  You can also design your own football t-shirt online in our design studio or feel free to modify one of our templates to fit your needs.  Here’s a great example of what we have to offer:

Just Say No To Terrorism T-Shirts

July 18th, 2008

If there is ever a headline on a major news outlet with the word t-shirt in it, we are drawn to it like a magnet.  This was the case the other day as we read an article by CNN personality Glenn Beck.  The clothing of choice when the hostages were being freed was Che Guevera t-shirts worn by Colombian soldiers as they tricked the FARC rebels in the hostages release.

Beck ended the commentary with a quip about creating t-shirts that show the darker and less glorified side of Che Guevera.  We are going to stay neutral on the subject, but we thought we would provide you with some artwork (for practice’ sake) to illustrate Glenn Beck’s stance:

T-Shirt Design Tip – Reflection

July 16th, 2008

This blog post is a t-shirt design tutorial but we want to get more people involved.  The only way we know how to do that…is to give something away for free.  If you link to this t-shirt design tutorial, we are going to give you a free t-shirt printed with the design that we create in this tutorial.  Just share this tee design tutorial with people that read your blog by linking to us, and then leave us a little comment, letting us know to check yours out.  We will contact you to get your size and shipping information.

This tutorial is centered around the trendy practice of using reflection in your t-shirt artwork.  We are referring to taking a design and making a mirror reflection of that design to create an overall new look.  All of our work will be based in Adobe Illustrator, and we always start with a blank canvas:

Now we are going to cheat a little bit and put in a design that we created as the foundation for this tutorial.  Take a good look at what we’re starting with, because it is definitely cool enough to be considered a solid t-shirt design in itself.

One of the most important steps that cannot be overlooked when creating a reflection is making sure to group all of the objects that are going to be reflected.

Once all of the objects are grouped, we’re going to make a copy.

Now here comes the most important part.  While having the copied group of artwork selected, we will go to the Object menu, choose Transform, and then Reflect.  The default settings should be set at Vertical reflection. If not, select Vertical because that is the one we need for this exercise.

We’re going to adjust the alignment now to get it just how we like it.

The last thing we’re going to do to set it off is drop in some Old English text with the title of our piece.

Here is the final t-shirt artwork for your viewing pleasure:

Tomorrow we will post pictures of the printed t-shirts with this artwork! Don’t forget, share us with your friends and we will show you some love.

T-Shirt Design Tutorials and Contests

July 15th, 2008

We recently did a short blog post that had a very important tip to design t-shirts by creating outlines when using fonts in your t-shirt designs. In doing so, we created a t-shirt design with our company name as an example and thought it would be pretty cool to print that on some t-shirts.

This got us thinking…. wouldn’t it be great if we printed each design tutorial artwork and gave away a limited number of t-shirts to those who linked to our design tutorial from their blog? We think it would be cool and we are going to give it a try….completely FREE!

So, on our next design tutorial, the final artwork is going to be printed on a limited run of five t-shirts. Now these aren’t just any old t-shirts either. We are talking about American Apparel or Alternative Apparel, and in some pretty cool colors and styles. Below, we will show you an example. But before we can do that. Please make sure that after you link to us, you put in a comment in the comments section with your contact information as your e-mail. We will contact you to get your size, and let you know when your t-shirt is shipping out. This should be fun!

Here is the t-shirt design example that we promised from a previous design tutorial:
