T-Shirt Blog Linkup

October 17th, 2008

Another week has passed and that means it’s time for our weekly top blog round up!  We hope you enjoy.

Reach for the Stars from The Daily Tee
The Daily Tee features a really cool design this week called ‘Reach for the Stars’.  This shirt is done in a long sleeve version which is sure to be popular as the seasons change.  There’s a ton of detail with the design and a lot of room for interpretation.  Very cool.

Banana Hand from Buythistshirt.org
This really weird design features a hand seeming to claw its way out of a banana.  The skin tone and shadowing make it difficult to see quite what is a banana and what is hand.  Definitely a creative concept.

Of Course I Don’t Look Busy from Shirts on Sale
The second half of that goes “I did it right the first time”. What can I say?  I’m a sucker for sarcastic, text shirts.  They’re not always the fanciest, but you know what you’re getting.

Respect your Mother from Hide Your Arms
In this Blog Hide Your Arms provides a very thorough and insightful review of Local Celebrities and their green products.  It’s very informative and interesting.  Check it out.

Fatal Justice from Pop Culture Tees
This is an incredibly intricate and well-designed image.  The black and white nature of it really adds to it and it looks both hand drawn and somehow freakishly realistic all at the same time.

Giant List of Star Wars T Shirts – from The T-Shirt Review
So the title pretty much says it all.  With this blog The T-Shirt Review brings us the most comprehensive listing (with pictures!) of Star Wars themed t-shirts that I’ve ever seen!  There’s sure to be something here for any and every fan of the movies!

Lucky Bunny? from Cottonable
What did t-shirt designers do before someone came up with the idea of vilifying these fuzzy critters?  More to the point what did t-shirt bloggers blog about before these days?  Regardless, here are two more snazzy installments in the rapidly multiplying (I wonder why?) collection of rabbit t-shirts.

Lies Lies Lies from Buythistshirt.org
Pretty simple, yet well-executed idea.  This shirt features a broadcasting tower broadcasting “Lies”.  I wonder where they could possibly have come up with the idea for this shirt or what they might be implying.

Koala Bear T-Shirt from TeeCycle
If you want a cute and realistic looking Koala bear t-shirt (and who doesn’t?) then this is definitely the way to go.  The little guy practically leaps off the shirt and the back features an excellent quote from George Elliot about animals.

& from Tcritic
This blog definitely gets our vote for finding the most specialized clothing line imaginable this week.  Ampertee features simple shirts with nothing but an ampersand on the front.  The shirts are available with said ampersand in a variety of fonts.

I Heart Vintage Vantage from Troundup
Vintage Vantage definitely is a cool company and Troundup has found some of their niftiest designs this week.  Who wouldn’t love a cloud t-shirt with the slogan ‘Get high on yourself!’?

Designgive from Thunderfrogs
Thunderfrogs provides us with a great write-up about the very cool and worthy company, Designgive.  Designgive features some really cool, well-designed shirts at reasonable prices.  The icing on the cake is that some of the proceeds go to a charity of your choice. Cool!

Diggnation saves the Universe…after Beers from Militantgeek
So this design features a space theme with the words “Saving Galaxy  Please wait…” and then the ever annoying hourglass icon.  Why do I think this t-shirt might be prophetic if Microsoft ever rules the world? (wait, doesn’t Microsoft already rule the world?)

All Girly Tees from $12 from Compete-te-tion
Once again compete-tee-tion does what they do best, provide us with a full summary of some of the most notable shirts of the week at the various t-shirt design communities.  This blog features info about the Threadless sale as well as several really nifty designs like ‘The Sound of Colour!’ Check it out!

Top Trompe L’oeil Tees at Koolto.com from Buy-Tees.net
This blog brings us a fantastic review of the company Coolto whose specialty is designing shirts that aren’t quite what they appear to be.  For example the ones features show a t-shirt that seems to have buttons and another that appears to have a necktie around the collar.  As the reviewer points out, such shirts aren’t uncommon in the t-shirt world, but a company dedicated exclusively to them certainly is!

And last but not least, don’t forget that you can follow all of the blogs and more at TeeReader. It is a great source for t-shirt news and t-shirt blogs.

It’s Hoodie Time

October 16th, 2008

With the temperature already dropping and winter just around the corner we thought now was an ideal time for us to turn our attention toward hoodies!  You design it has a great selection of hoodies which are, of course, full customizable.

With hoodies on the brain we also decided that now was a great time to find the three coolest designs.  However, as soon as we went in search of these great designs we were overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of top-notch options.  With that in mind we decided to further break down our selections into colorful prints and black & White/simple prints (look for our colorful prints selection in an upcoming blog!).  So now it is our pleasure to bring you three of the coolest, black & white hoodie designs:

Quiksilver Pullover Hoodie
Quiksilver Hoodie
This terrific looking print features a skull surrounded by flowers and supported by feathered bird’s wings.  The artwork is terrific and really does appear to ‘fly’ off the hoodie.

Obey ‘Money Seal’ Zip Hoodie
Obey Hoodie
It’s hard not to love this stylish hoodie.  This is one of the best all over prints we’ve seen recently either on a hoodie or a T-Shirt.  You have to admire the intricacy and creativity of the design.

Evisu Genes Heritage Hoodie
Evisu Hoodie
This one is definitely the winner of our little top black and white hoodie designs.  Another terrific all over print with an eye catching, albeit very busy design, and then to top it all off some sharp looking embroidery to really make the whole thing pop.  Awesome!

Mt. Scaremore is a National Monument

October 15th, 2008

As we promised earlier in the month, Halloween time is rapidly approaching and we’ve been keeping an eye out for high quality, Halloween shirts.  One of the absolute best such shirts is definitely the new Design By Humans shirt of the day/Halloweek winner.  It’s called Mt. ScareMore; check it out:

Scaremore T-Shirt

This is a fantastic design!  It features some OM’s or “Original Monsters” with their faces carved into the side of the mountain.  This design has all of the old school Halloween elements that we can appreciate with the castle, moon, and dark clouds. Definitely spooktacular.

Scary Birthday T-Shirts of Our Own

October 12th, 2008

We were recently commissioned to come up with a t-shirt design for a 4th birthday with a horror theme. The little birthday guy, Vincent, said that he wanted something scary like an eyeball or a skeleton. We decided to give the eyeball a shot and threw in a surprise he wouldn’t forget. Where you see white in the print is going to actually be glow-in-the-dark ink as an added touch. Enjoy:

Design Give with a New Style

October 8th, 2008

There are increasingly more business models being conceived on the web when it comes to selling t-shirts. While most sites are focusing on the bottom line, it is becoming more popular these days to shift the focus to those in need. Design Give is one such site where a portion of the profits becomes a charitable donation to the organization chosen by the purchaser. Some t-shirt sites have taken on the noble cause and forgot to come up with pretty cool t-shirt designs in the process. Design Give is not guilty of that.

Take a minute and check out their wears. Their chief janitor is a friend of ours named Darren Ansley and he definitely has a strong eye for design. Here are a couple of screen shots of the site for preview:
