A T-Shirt Book We Recommend

July 30th, 2008

The other day, we were windowshopping at a local t-shirt boutique in the morning as we got our coffee from Starbucks.  It was well before the T-shirt shop had opened, and I could see a t-shirt book for sale through the window.  It’s not every day that you happen to see T-shirt books, while windowshopping so I knew I was going to have to come back once they’re open to make that purchase.

The name of the book was Vintage Rock T-shirts and it couldn’t be more interesting for the niche it is covering. You can find the book here at Amazon and here is a screenshot of their order page:

Vintage Rock T-Shirts Book

The T-shirt book essentially covers the 60s, 70s, and 80s rock bands and the T-shirts they sold at concerts.  And it really isn’t a “reading” book as much as it is a “looking” book. This suits us just fine, because the images are top-notch and the layout is beautiful.  We definitely recommend it as a must-have on the shelf of your office or home library.  That is with the assumption that you are as much of a t-shirt geek as we are. :)

One thing that we thought was really cool was the image that was used on the front of the book. They borrowed the image to show the author’s name from the bass drum in an image for the Beatles Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Here is the album cover:

Why is that so interesting?  Because we just printed a large amount of shirts for a big customer of ours that was creating a new club for their employees.  Here’s the artwork for those shirts:

Now that was a long story, and we’ve got to get back to t-shirt printing

T-Shirt Orders of Any Size

July 24th, 2008

Frequently what we find our customers confused about is the minimum or maximum allowable quantity for an order.  People are very surprised to discover that they can come to the same company for one shirt or for 1,000+ shirts.  However, here at You Design It we’re equipped to handle your needs regardless of how many or how few shirts you need.

Our smaller orders of less than six shirts are created by digital t-shirt printing.  With digital printing you can design your own t shirt just as you would with screen printing in our design studio.  With digital printing you have the flexibility of having as many colors on the shirt as you want without having to pay more per color.  However, digital printing works best on light shirts with dark ink.  It’s very difficult for us to do digital printing of white/very light ink on a black/very dark shirt.

Screen printed t shirts are the best option for larger orders of six or more shirts.  With screen printing there are no color restrictions in terms of what we can print; however, each color necessitates another ‘screen’ thereby making the shirts more expensive for us to create and thus a little more expensive for you to buy.

Regardless of what your quantity size may be, You Design It is pleased and honored to be your one stop shop for all your “personalized t shirt” needs.

Just Say No To Terrorism T-Shirts

July 18th, 2008

If there is ever a headline on a major news outlet with the word t-shirt in it, we are drawn to it like a magnet.  This was the case the other day as we read an article by CNN personality Glenn Beck.  The clothing of choice when the hostages were being freed was Che Guevera t-shirts worn by Colombian soldiers as they tricked the FARC rebels in the hostages release.

Beck ended the commentary with a quip about creating t-shirts that show the darker and less glorified side of Che Guevera.  We are going to stay neutral on the subject, but we thought we would provide you with some artwork (for practice’ sake) to illustrate Glenn Beck’s stance:

A New Address for a T-Shirt Blog

July 1st, 2008

One of the T-shirt blogs that we frequently check out and subscribe to their RSS feed is called Cottonable.  They were formally known as Tshirt Island and have recently moved to their new address under the new name Cottonable.  They are real good at keeping up with tee shirt designs, trends and ideas.  We definitely recommend you adding Cottonable to your RSS feed reader.
