November 15th, 2008

It’s time for our weekly top blog feature!  This week brought some very fascinating blogs filled with cool and unusual designs.  Check them out!

Bard Monkey from Pop Culture Tees
This shirt certainly gets an A for originality and execution.  That little guy looks freakishly manic, and really what is more troubling than a monkey waving around a typewriter?  I love the banana in the ink well detail.

Brand Profile: Defi the Norm from Clothing Wire
We love Clothing Wire’s regular installments of brand profiles and they certainly brought us an interesting one this time.

Partridge in a Pear Tree from T-Shirt Casserole
I love how sharp and crisp this design is.  It defintely gives the impression of looking through some sort of oval shaped window or opening.

Wonderful Frosty The Snowman from T-Shirt Guru
Ok, don’t throw stuff at us for picking a blog featuring a Christmas themed shirt this early in the season.

5 New Funny Shirts from T-Shirt Rater
With this blog T-Shirt Rater brings us some very amusing new additions available over at Popular Threadz.

Festive t shirt from BuyThisTshirt.org
Since we’re already risked your wrath by bringing out the holiday shirts here’s another one we found striking.

10 worst vintage band tees from Defunkd
Don’t worry the shirts themselves aren’t so bad, it’s the bands that have found themselves the target of the defunkd writers.

Uneetee Presents Melting Freeze Pops from Compete-tee-tion
Here’s a fascinating shirt that pays homage to one of the iconic refreshments of summer.  They look so realistic and tasty I could take a bite.

The “Tee” is 3 letter(s) word from Cottonable
Here’s a great find brought to you by Cottonable.  3LetterWord is a company which specializes in creating very simple shirts with nothing but a three letter word of your choosing on them.  It might seem a little gimmicky, but it’s certainly an interesting niche to seek.

Google from Funky Duds
I really live this amusing shirt which might sum up Google’s approach to success: Search and Destroy.  In this case though I think I would prefer it in more options than just the white shirt with black lettering.

Chunky Chunk Apparel from HideYourArms
It seems like the t-shirt world is saturated with companies that market to and supply the adult t-shirt wearer so it’s always refreshing to see a company with cool shirts designed for the original t-shirt wearers: Kids!

The Ryde: Tree Hugger from Shirts On Sale
I think Eden from SOS said it best: “Considering the text says, “hug a tree hugger,” we would have really appreciated it if there were two people in this picture, one hugging the tree and the other hugging the hugger.  Still, it is a great sentiment”

Word Up to Word Apparel from Buy-Tees.net
Another awesome, in-depth review of a fascinating and high-quality brand brought to you from Buy-Tees.net!

The Beautiful Art of Aya Kato at B/D from T-Shirts Around the Internet
I really love the style of shirts which are a staple of Beautiful Decay and the ones featured in this blog are by no means an exception.

The King from The Daily Tee
Awesome find Daily Tee!  It’s difficult to put a new spin on skull and death shirts but this one actually manages it. Great design.

Another week has passed and that means it’s time for weekly top blog shout out.  Check out these terrific blogs! As always, many of these blog posts have been spotted at the t-shirt blogs and t-shirt news site over at TeeReader.com:

Pencils from BuyThisTShirt.org
This shirt makes excellent use of all over printing and the continuous but random pencil design feels simultaneously fresh and retro at the same time, cool!

Iron Maiden California Invasion 1985 from Defunkd
Speaking of retro shirts the crew over at Defunkd specializes in them and this week they’re on a mission to document the Iron Maiden tees.  Check it out!

New This Week At Design By Humans from Compete-tee-tion
This blog brings us the newest shirts from Design By Humans and this week saw some excellent picks!  Our favorite is Ekadanta.  Great write up Compete-tee-tion!

Featured Tees Make A Statement from Cottonable

This excellent blog offers a concise and informative review and overview of the company Featured Tees.  They are definitely worth looking into!

RAWR! Clothing from Funky Duds
So I’m not sure if that cup of soda is generating the giant pink monster or attacking it, but in any case this definitely looks like a RAWR situation.

Mama Feels Good – Tees for Pregnant Women from Hide Your Arms

Hide Your Arms serves up an amusing, enjoyable blog to read which will also be quite functional if you happen to be a pregnant woman (or know one).  Don’t miss it!

$10 Shirt. Woot: To the top in the style of DaVinci from Shirts on Sale
We can always count on Shirts On Sale to find us some great deals and this one comes from Shirt.Woot.  With their consistently amusing write up and well priced apparel it’s hard to ignore woot and this is certainly one of their stand out offerings.

Nonoloa T-Shirts from Buy-Tees.net
This blog is about the very creative, avant-garde company known as Nonoloa. They have some really terrific designs and this review is extremely helpful and indepth!

Clothes Make the Man – Famous Words Make the Shirt
Any blog which features Mark Twain’s “Naked people have little or no influence on society” quote is certain to get a nod from me, and a blog about a company which specializes in such quotes is quite a delight indeed.

Pizza Pandemonium from T-Shirts Around The Blog
Whether you’re a pizza lover or one of the few haters you’ll probably get a huge kick out of “Pizza Pandemonium”.  This shirt is striking to say the least.  Great find!

Guess This Tee from The Daily Tee
I’ve been staring at it and I still haven’t figured out what’s going on.  I suppose that’s the point with surreal designs such as this.  Keep an eye on this one.

New Retreat Tees in at the Urban Shop from The Fat Seagull
Speaking of strange designs the Fat Seagull has found us a missile wielding (or is he hitching a ride?) elephant.  This fella’ certainly doesn’t seem like someone you want to cross.

Huge Sale Over at Glarkware from Troundup
“Ask me about my crippling shyness” proclaims one amusing Glarkware shirt.  “My girlfriend can totally beat up your girlfriend” reads another.  Obviously your girlfriend must have been stupid enough to ask me about my crippling shyness so my girl…oh nevermind, just check out the blog and the sale!

Lazy Oaf from iloveyourtshirt
iloveyourshirt has found us a really great t-shirt line with this one!  Lazy Oaf has some awesome stuff and they really are certain to make you grin!

Medicated Clothing from TShirtReview
Here’s yet another write up on yet another great company.  This one’s blog featured design puts an amusing spin on a familiar design.  Check it out!

Tee Shirt Blog Linkup

October 31st, 2008

This week for a regular installment of the top blogs of the week we wanted to bring you something slightly
different.  Something will a little more bark and bite.  That’s why this week’s edition features the top animal, bird, and insect shirts of the week. Here’s what we came up with:

Top 5 Wolf Shirts from Thunderfrogs
It should come as no surprise that a blog title like that would make the cut.  Our favorite is the wolf in nun’s clothing!

A Raccoon with an Umbrella (and a fish!) from Hide Your Arms
The title pretty much says it all.  This shirt features an anthropomorphized raccoon holding an umbrella, and strangely enough a fish.  This shirt makes the cut on the ‘huh?’ factor alone!

The Great Escape from T-Shirt Guru
There have been a ton of shirts featuring magicians and rabbits or birds, but this is the first one quite like this I’ve seen.  Very creative!

New Electric Zombie Line from T-Shirts Around The Internet.
Here’s a shirt ideal for the Halloween season.  It features a murderous looking, demented cat, plenty of bats, a chainsaw and flying brain and random other goodies.  What more do you need?

Black Crows from The Daily Tee
This blog title is something of a misnomer.  The shirt in question actually features a single VERY large yellow and red bird.  Check it out.

New Tees at SplitReason from Buy-Tees.net
OK, I know a couple of spots up I was talking about chainsaws and flying brains, but this shirt actually
gets my vote as creepiest of the week.  It features a well-dressed woman standing in the rain with an
umbrella…evidently walking her massive, drooling spider.  Maybe it’s just my aversion to arachnids, but this one freaks me out!

Jimiyo Shirt on Tee Fury from The T-Shirt Review
Another great bird shirt.  Exquisite detail and very well-executed!

Horse, of course from Shirtlog
This one features a horse of course.  A large, running yellow horse on a purple background.

Uneetee: $13 fall sale from Shirts On Sale
So a zebra in a barcode isn’t a completely original concept.  However, it is very well-executed in this case and the idea, rather original or not, is still amusing.

New premium tees from Upper Playground from The Fat Seagull
I’m not completely certain what this cute little guy is.  I think he’s a baby deer (fawn?), but he appears to have stepped in something unpleasant.  Regardless of what exactly is going on, it’s a very appealing Tee.

Cryptozoology from Cottonable
It would be difficult to leave out this excellent blog post from Cottonable considering that the subject of the post is that the company SquidFire has just released a whole line of animal themed T-shirts. The one featured, Cryptozoology, is really terrific and depicts some of the most famous FICTIONAL animals around.

Brand Profile: Six Foot Owl from Clothing Wire
As one would expect a brand called ‘six foot owl’ features some pretty great owl t-shirts.  My favorite
is the oversized owl print on the black shirt in the guys’ section.  Check it out.

Butterfly from BuyThisTShirt.org
A very simple shirt with a very well designed, sharp looking butterfly.  What’s not to love?

New Shirt Monday at Threadless from Compete-tee-tion
This is another fantastic blog which practically epitomizes this week’s theme.  Let’s see we have bubblegum blowing birds, a killed lawn flamingo, and a shirt about bear hugs.  If that weren’t enough this post also features my two new favorite animal design shirts ‘Search and Rescue’ and ‘Beastly Planet’.

October 24th, 2008

It’s once again time for our regular feature of the top blogs of the week.  Thanks to TeeReader, a new site that tracks t-shirt blogs, this week saw the addition of several new faces.  We hope you enjoy!

10 funny I-do-something tees from 10tees
This blog specializes in collecting lists of 10 tees for a various feature.  Their funny t-shirt collection is great!

Brand Profile: Mediocore Clothing from Clothing Wire
This is a very insightful and interesting profile on a great line.  Thanks Clothing Wire.

I Won’t Lower My Standards from Teecycle
Once again we couldn’t resist throwing in a blog about a funny text print shirt.  Good find, Teecycle!

Branding: The Linty Fresh Experience
This blog provides an excellent resource for people wishing to start their own clothing company and this particular entry does an excellent job highlighting Linty Fresh as an example.

Bar Treking Star Trek Parody from Tcritic
Whether you enjoy star Trek or simply get a kick out of parody shirts you’re sure to enjoy this blog!

Things Cafepress Needs to Offer Shopkeepers from TShirt Entrepreneur
This is a great list of useful suggestions that Cafepress would do well to consider!

Just a Reminder: Vote, Please! from T-Shirt Watch
This shirt probably won’t go as viral as the ever referenced ‘Vote or Die’ t-shirt, but it still expresses a timely reminder in a great style!

Too Orangey For Crows from TeeJunkie
This blog features a really fantastic looking shirt and it’s very amusing and informative to read!

Have Airport Codes – Will Travel from Rumplo
Rumplo said it best when they said, “these tees certainly make their respective cities feel like the best towns anywhere. Simple, Charming, [and] elegant.”

How many Emptees Members does it take to make a shirt? from Hide Your Arms
This isn’t just the set up of a joke; it’s actually the beginning of a blog feature of a terrific, seasonal shirt worth checking out.

Birds of Spray from The Daily Tee

An amusing pun and a terrific graffiti style t-shirt that plays tricks on the eyes…what’s not to love?

New Tees at Allmightys from Fantastic Blognanza
As you might have guessed this blog points the readers toward some new tees over at Allmightys.  They’re worth checking out!

Where the Clouds Came Out from Pop Culture Tees
Wow!  This is a fantastic and trippy design that’s both a joy and a mind puzzle to look at (or maybe I’m just easily amused).

Bedo from Color Overload
Apart from the mildly offensive but still amusing ‘Street Sweeper’ design what’s not to love about Bedo’s designs?

2 new Zoo York tees at The Urban Shop from The Fat Seagull
These two shirts are absolutely gorgeous and have an amazing amount of detail.  Great find, Fat Seagull!

October 17th, 2008

Another week has passed and that means it’s time for our weekly top blog round up!  We hope you enjoy.

Reach for the Stars from The Daily Tee
The Daily Tee features a really cool design this week called ‘Reach for the Stars’.  This shirt is done in a long sleeve version which is sure to be popular as the seasons change.  There’s a ton of detail with the design and a lot of room for interpretation.  Very cool.

Banana Hand from Buythistshirt.org
This really weird design features a hand seeming to claw its way out of a banana.  The skin tone and shadowing make it difficult to see quite what is a banana and what is hand.  Definitely a creative concept.

Of Course I Don’t Look Busy from Shirts on Sale
The second half of that goes “I did it right the first time”.  What can I say?  I’m a sucker for sarcastic, text shirts.  They’re not always the fanciest, but you know what you’re getting.

Respect your Mother from Hide Your Arms
In this Blog Hide Your Arms provides a very thorough and insightful review of Local Celebrities and their green products.  It’s very informative and interesting.  Check it out.

Fatal Justice from Pop Culture Tees
This is an incredibly intricate and well-designed image.  The black and white nature of it really adds to it and it looks both hand drawn and somehow freakishly realistic all at the same time.

Giant List of Star Wars T Shirts – from The T-Shirt Review
So the title pretty much says it all.  With this blog The T-Shirt Review brings us the most comprehensive listing (with pictures!) of Star Wars themed t-shirts that I’ve ever seen!  There’s sure to be something here for any and every fan of the movies!

Lucky Bunny? from Cottonable
What did t-shirt designers do before someone came up with the idea of vilifying these fuzzy critters?  More to the point what did t-shirt bloggers blog about before these days?  Regardless, here are two more snazzy installments in the rapidly multiplying (I wonder why?) collection of rabbit t-shirts.

Lies Lies Lies from Buythistshirt.org
Pretty simple, yet well-executed idea.  This shirt features a broadcasting tower broadcasting “Lies”.  I wonder where they could possibly have come up with the idea for this shirt or what they might be implying.

Koala Bear T-Shirt from TeeCycle
If you want a cute and realistic looking Koala bear t-shirt (and who doesn’t?) then this is definitely the way to go.  The little guy practically leaps off the shirt and the back features an excellent quote from George Elliot about animals.

& from Tcritic
This blog definitely gets our vote for finding the most specialized clothing line imaginable this week.  Ampertee features simple shirts with nothing but an ampersand on the front.  The shirts are available with said ampersand in a variety of fonts.

I Heart Vintage Vantage from Troundup
Vintage Vantage definitely is a cool company and Troundup has found some of their niftiest designs this week.  Who wouldn’t love a cloud t-shirt with the slogan ‘Get high on yourself!’?

Designgive from Thunderfrogs
Thunderfrogs provides us with a great write-up about the very cool and worthy company, Designgive.  Designgive features some really cool, well-designed shirts at reasonable prices.  The icing on the cake is that some of the proceeds go to a charity of your choice.  Cool!

Diggnation saves the Universe…after Beers from Militantgeek
So this design features a space theme with the words “Saving Galaxy   Please wait…” and then the ever annoying hourglass icon.  Why do I think this t-shirt might be prophetic if Microsoft ever rules the world?  (wait, doesn’t microsoft already rule the world?)

All Girly Tees from $12 from Compete-te-tion
Once again compete-tee-tion does what they do best, provide us with a full summary of some of the most notable shirts of the week at the various t-shirt design communities.  This blog features info about the threadless sale as well as several really nifty designs like ‘The Sound of Colour!’  Check it out!

Top Trompe L’oeil Tees at Koolto.com from Buy-Tees.net
This blog brings us a fantastic review of the company Coolto whose specialty is designing shirts that aren’t quite what they appear to be.  For example the ones features show a t-shirt that seems to have buttons and another that appears to have a necktie around the collar.  As the reviewer points out, such shirts aren’t uncommon in the t-shirt world, but a company dedicated exclusively to them certainly is!

And last but not least, don’t forget that you can follow all of the blogs and more at TeeReader. It is a great source for t-shirt news and t-shirt blogs.

T-Shirt Blog Linkup

October 3rd, 2008

Yep, it’s time for our weekly shout out of the best blog posts of the week.  This week was a full of quality and narrowing it down to only fifteen was no easy task!  Here’s what we came up with up:

Tiny Trends, Part 6 from Rumplo
Rumplo continues their popular trends series, this time bringing us ‘Peace T-Shirts’, ‘Impossible Shapes’, and ‘The Stereo’.  I have to say I was unfamiliar with the very cool baby blocks shirt that is a part of the ‘Impossible Shapes’ series.  The ‘Peace’ shirts are all fairly basic, but still good.

World Grenade from Shirts on Sale
I’ve always been a sucker for shirts that are heavy on symbolism and this one definitely is.  The sharp, simple, to the point message is very well-executed and Eden provides a very good commentary.  In many ways this shirt would have fit nicely in the Peace series mentioned above.

Tripping Out at Psywear.com from Buy-Tees
Once again Buy-Tees picks a top-notch, interesting company and provides a very solid, informative write-up on them!  This time that company is Psywear.com and they feature some really cool, trippy designs that seem to pop right off the shirt (as trippy designs are meant to do).

Dinosaur T-Shirt from Teecyle
Here’s a t-shirt that is sure to bring back fond childhood memories for all the dinosaur enthusiasts out there (and weren’t we all dinosaur enthusiasts at some point?).  This great shirt features several of the most popular in a bright, sharp rendering with their names next to them.  Bonus points for doing the shirt in one of my favorite colors.

Amazing New Star Wars Hoodies and T-Shirts from Marc Ecko From Tcritic
While we’re walking down memory lane let us not forget to pay homage to Star Wars and the general space obsession many of us had as kids.  Even if you aren’t a fan of the iconic movies and would never actually wear the gear featured here you HAVE to appreciate the incredible design that turns that hoodie into essentially a costume.

Opium Dream from compete-tee-tion
Compete-tee-tion brings us a very terrific featured design this week.  Opium Dream features a dragon – which as compete-tee-tion pointed out has ALOT of personality and is very well-designed – smoking a pipe.  As the smoke rises it bellows around him in the classic intertwined dragon image.

New Black Sea Designs from T-Shirts Around the Internet
I admit I’m a bit of a sucker for an underdog story and based on the information here in seems like Black Sea has had a really rough year.  It’s nice to see them back and in full swing bringing us bright, vivid designs.

T-Shirts From No Star Clothing from T-Shirt Watch
Once again I find myself drawn to the amusing designs of No Star Clothing, and how can one resist when they bring you such interesting wordplay as ‘pour, favor’ and ‘make believe, not war’.  Another ‘bang up’ shirt is the ‘Guns Don’t Kill People (people with mustaches kill people)’ T-shirt.

Collision Theory Rising from The T-Shirt Review
This blog does an excellent job informing us of a terrific new t-shirt and telling us a little bit about the designer Collision Theory.  This shirt is a companion piece to his ‘When Pandas Attack’ t-shirt, definitely a set worth collecting.

New Shirt Monday at Threadless from compete-tee-tion
First off, check out the ‘When Pandas Attack’ t-shirt mentioned above.  Apart from that one, other standouts include ‘My Crony’ which features a very chummy moon and owl and the excellent ‘Microwaves Are Just Too Slow’.  Microwaves depicts Superman heating up his frozen dinner with his x-ray vision.  The kicker is that he’s doing this while sitting on a broken microwave, thus explaining the reason for his predicament in the first place.

Mr. P by Tim Lahan from Hide Your Arms
This is a really good shirt!  It features a pigeon made up to look like Mr.T with his signature hair and facial hair style.  The really big homerun hit comes from the gold necklace with a big ‘P’ on it which really stands out given that the rest of the shirt is in black and white!  I pity the fool who doesn’t buy this shirt!

Down The Barrel from buythistshirt.org
The picture of this shirt is very striking.  It’s done in black and white and it features a very 3d version of someone holding a gun and pointing it directly at whomever might be facing the t-shirt.  My only concern is that it wouldn’t look quite as good in person or actually on someone.  If it does look as good then it’s definitely worth a buy!

Milk shop Gang from Addicteed
Once again I’d like to point out an excellent, 3D, almost black and white print.  This time the print features an eye crying a very unusual color of tears.  More standouts from this blog: the angry, freaky looking baby and the piano skull.  The other designs are definitely worth a look too though.

Billy the Kid T-Shirt from Teecycle
With this blog Teecycle provides us with a very informative set of information regarding Billy the Kid. It is very relevant given that that’s what their feature design is about and even more fascinating given that the shirt ITSELF would be able to tell you that information if you purchased it.  My only complaint about the t-shirt definitely relates to the font which I find difficult to read.  Apart from that it’s great though.

The Ultimate T-Shirt Enthusiast’s Resource from Shirts On Sale
Wow!  As if bringing us a bountiful supply of terrific tees wasn’t enough Shirts On Sale is now launching a sensational new website to help making finding t-shirt links, designs, and websites even easier.  Check out their new site; it definitely sounds like something you’ll want to bookmark.
