The Eights at Ink Hound

January 19th, 2009

One of the newest t-shirt design communities on the internet is Ink-Hound. They’re almost like a hybrid between sites like TeeFury that offer only one shirt at a time and design communities like Threadless. The difference is that only one shirt is sold at a time.  However, unlike other sites that sell only one shirt a day, Ink Hound makes their wears available for a week.  They do the same thing with hats also.

Last week’s shirt, The Eights, is terrific:

The Eights

The cartoon character macabre style is very popular right now and this design certainly executes that beautifully.  The details are fantastic as well.  I love the anthropomorphized knife and the bloodied bone sticking out of the central character’s head.  This certainly does look like a dangerous bunch.

TeeFury Has An Extraordinary Tee

January 8th, 2009

Yesterday’s Teefury shirt is extraordinary.  Really.  Check it out:

Extraordinary Tee

Robbie Lee has served up an original, interesting design and many people will probably enjoy wearing it simply for the fact that it will say “Extra-Ordinary!” on their chests.

I’m really liking the thick, amusing hair that the robot has.  It really adds a great deal to the character of the piece. The gradients and fading is pretty cool too.

On the Prowl Tee

December 28th, 2008

The following is the winner of the Shirt.Woot’s One Continuous Line Derby:

On The Prowl Tee

It’s a good design regardless, and I really like the placement, but the fact that it’s done in one continuous line really makes it amazing. Line art is increasing in popularity and Shirt.Woot prefers the single color designs making line art perfect for that category.

Little Red Riding Hood T-Shirt

December 26th, 2008

Threadless has a new shirt out which puts an amusing spin on the Little Red Riding Hood story.

Little Red Riding Hood Artwork

This brilliant design depicts Red as an icy fashionista who happily kills the wolf for a new animal skin hood. The details and concept are exceptional.  I love the gun she’s discretely tucking away in the basket (or perhaps pulling it out to shoot herself some brand new shoes?), and the expression on her face is priceless.  The background scenery is also very subtle and well-done and does a great job focusing attention where it belongs on Mrs. Riding Hood.

Uneetee Prints the Predator

November 26th, 2008

Uneetee has a pretty interesting new shirt out.  It’s called “The Predator” and it features an all over print of a fierce looking tiger.  Check it out:

Uneetee Predator T-Shirt

This is a really great looking design and the placement and positioning of the print really set the design off. It’s amazing how different the two versions of the shirt look.  In my opinion the colored version is the hot one. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Horn

November 12th, 2008

The man on this shirt certainly seems to live by that philosophy.  I’m always intrigued by the visual representation of sound and this shirt definitely does a good job conceptualizing how sound waves might travel.

I also like the idea of having the man and the horn in black and white but the sound as vibrant shades of orange and yellow.

My only criticism is that I’m not overly fond of the clouds.  The ones above and even parallel to the horn seem to ‘work’ for me, but the ones at the man’s waistlevel and below are distracting.  It makes me think that the man must himself be standing in some kind of cloudy otherworld, which perhaps he is, but for me it takes away from the imagery with the horn.

Still, it’s a great concept and a sharp design from Imaginary Foundation.
